Five Tips for Cleaning Commercial Carpeting

We are firm believers that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. When it comes to keeping commercial carpeting clean, it's a great idea to give your clients methods for minimizing the dirt and damage done to their rugs in between professional carpet cleanings.

Tip #1: Vacuum every day

Whether they do it themselves or hire a company, your clients should be vacuuming their commercial carpet every day. Dirt, debris, and spills can happen in the blink of an eye and leaving them to stew and sink into the fibres for weeks on end will do them no favors. Instead, a quick vacuum will get up little bits and pieces before they melt into stains and also allow your clients to keep an eye on their rugs' overall state.

Tip #2: Implement a 'walk-off' system

If your clients' carpet comes right to their front door, suggest to them to implement a 'walk-off' system to minimize the dirt on their carpets.

Essentially, a 'walk-off' system is an area at the front of the door that uses either scraper mats or absorbent textiles to prevent water, dirt, and debris from entering the space. Your clients can prevent up to 80% of damaging moisture and dirt from even getting onto their carpets with this preventative measure.

Tip #3: get your carpets professionally cleaned, regularly

It should come as no surprise that this is one of our top three tips. Professional carpet cleaning equipment can do more for cleaning commercial carpeting in one day than consumer products can do in a year. Truck mounted equipment like the Rotovac Bonzer, which is a high speed carpet cleaning tool, can make quick work of packed in dirt, food, and moisture. This beauty uses five spray jets that are completely encapsulated under the manifold to prevent any steam or heat from escaping the cleaning zone--perfect for a business that needs to stay on the go!
